Question: can an average trail rider contest one of the toughest mountain bike races in the world?

Answer: anything is possible.

It's true, with the right approach, anything really is possible.

To celebrate the 10th running of the legendary TransRockies race this August, What Mountain Bike magazine and red cloud got together to present 'Ticket to the TransRockies' in aid of Stay Strong and sponsored by SRAM, Travel Alberta and the TransRockies organisers.

Over the last few months one lucky winner of What Mountain Bike and red cloud's competition (as featured in the February issue of the magazine) Gordon Dickson from Lanark in Scotland, joined red cloud founder Mark Almond on the road to TransRockies X accompanied by £1000 worth of new SRAM components for their bike.

Setting out to prove that it can be done by mere mortals - albeit with some not inconsiderable advice and help from some of the best in the business - the challenge was  run to support a very worthy cause.

In 2007, British BMX star Stephen Murray was setting the world alight. Personality, style and a mind blowing approach to his sport made Stephen one of the very best BMXers in the world. Then the unthinkable happened. Crashing heavily in competition Stephen's riding career and, very nearly his life, was over. Despite the severity of his injuries, Stephen's never give up and anything is possible attitude helped him come to terms with a new way of life. A life after riding and with a permanent disability...Stephen was going to conquer it the only way he could. By fighting. Stephen's fight continues and in fighting he makes us all realise that whatever problems, obstacles and challenges come our way...just keep fighting. Stay Strong. The perfect name for the charity set up in his name.

Full details of the Stay Strong campaign can be found at www.staystrong.co.uk where you can also buy Stay Strong merchandise or simply donate to the campaign. Every penny is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

On August 13th 2011, Gordon and Mark crossed the finish line in Canmore, Alberta. They had proved the impossible was possible. Positive thinking and hard work had got them there. The full story will appear in the October issue of What Mountain Bike magazine.

red cloud would like to thank all our sponsors and supporters in putting this together and making it happen.

To Travel Alberta, TransRockies, SRAM, Fisher Outdoor Leisure, Jenny Copnall, Steve Peat and, of course, to our media partner and friends at What Mountain Bike magazine, a very big thank you.

We hope you enjoyed the updates as they happened and please join us in supporting Stay Strong. A worthy cause for a remarkable individual.

Thank you all.
